For my next assignment, I chose the create your own DS106 background.  I checked out some other students’ post and watched the tutorial video to get some ideas, as well as some insight in how to better use GIMP to design my background.  The background image was an old rustic wood background that I had saved to my computer (see above).  It was originally a dark gray and black, which I thought would be perfect for Noir, but after playing with the different colors I liked the brown better.  The other layers like the logo name and glasses are images I pulled from Google images and just modified them with the different tools in GIMP to come up with the finished product.  Instead of going with the standard, central logo I kind of shifted it to the side and down a bit to give it a different feel.  Overall, I am pretty pleased with it. It looks rather small in the post, but the file itself is sized to fit a normal computer screen.

Just realized my first reply didn’t go through, but thanks! It took some time for me to get the colors exactly how I wanted. Week 5 was a tough one for me!
