It’s a dark, stormy night and you’re home alone. On any other night the sound of the rain would have you sleeping like a baby, but not tonight. Something about tonight is different. The thunder and rain are unusually loud on your old tin roof. Your dog flinches at merely the sound of it. Frightening, at most, but it’s just a storm.
You’re cozied up in your favorite chair watching “Stepbrothers”, because you wanted something funny on this lonely night. All of a sudden, a roaring thunder strikes so loud it sounded like the lightning hit right outside your door. And again!
The TV shuts off and the room goes black. You feel a subtle, chilling breeze across the hairs on your forearm. The dog barks and rushes at the door, the room still black.
What is that sound? Some sort of siren? It’s like nothing you’ve ever heard before!
The screen flickers back on, but it’s just a black screen with some sort of weird writing. “No, this can’t be happening!” you’re thinking to yourself as a strange sound comes from the TV. The siren is still going off and the thunder is louder than your drunk mother at her last birthday party.
It’s aliens! The aliens are communicating to you.
But what are they saying? Are they coming for you; for your dog? Money? What could they possibly want?
It goes away. “AH, thank God.”
BOOM! The thunder strikes louder than you’ve ever heard. You are terrified at this point.
All at once, the lights come back on. Your movie returns to its last playing spot. You think to yourself, “Was all of that just a dream?”
This is an assignment from the Assignment Bank where we were supposed to create an audio track using only spooky sounds. The instructions were simple, but the assignment was worthy of 4 stars so I knew it would take some work. I completed the assignment in GarageBand, using a variety of Apple Loops, found sounds and some background music from my ITunes. All in all, this was a fun assignment.
